  • 7:00 a.m. Packet Pick-up and transition area open
  • 8:30 a.m. packet pick-up process closes
  • 8:45 a.m. transition area closed, all athletes should report to pool area
  • 8:45 a.m. pre-race safety talk. Mandatory that all athletes attend.
  • 9:00 a.m. race start 1st wave

  • Pre Race Meeting: Saturday June 24, 2006 6:00 pm.
     
    RACE DAY:
  • 7:00 a.m. Packet Pick-up and transition area open

  • 8:45 a.m. pre-race safety talk. Mandatory that all athletes attend.
  • 9:00 a.m. race start 1st wave
     

    Parking is available in vacant lot at corner of Baltimore Ave and 4th Street and also along 6th Street.

  • Swim:

  • The swim will take place in the West Pittston Swimming Pool.
  • The athletes 7-10 will complete 3 widths of the pool in the shallow end for a total swim length of 50 meters. The swimmers will start in the water along the side of the pool in a single line. Upon completion of the 3rd width, they will exit the pool and move to the transition area.
  • The athletes 11-14 will complete 3 lengths of the pool (3’-5’ in depth) for a total swim length of 100 meters. The swimmers will start in the water along the side of the pool in a single line. Upon completion of the 3rd length, they will exit the pool and move towards the transition area.

    Bike:

  • The bike leaves the transition area in the Pittston Township pool parking lot by turning left onto 6th Street, then right onto Tunkhannock Avenue. The course turns left onto and will follow Packer Avenue for approximately 2/3 of a mile to the turnaround point. From the turnaround, will proceed back on Packer Avenue towards the transition area. They will make a right turn onto Tunkhannock Avenue, then a left onto 6th street. To make the turn onto 6th Street, the racers must slow to go around a traffic island. PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PASSING OF OTHER RACERS IN THIS AREA OF THE BIKE COURSE.
  • The athletes ages 7-10 are completing only one loop of the course and will proceed to the bike dismount area and into transition.
  • The athletes ages 11-14 will be completing 2 loops of the course and will turn left and return to Tunkhannock Avenue for the second loop.

    Run:

  • The run course is a 0.7-mile loop around the West Pittston Pool and Little League Fields with a short out and back portion on Delaware Avenue. The athletes will leave transition by turning right onto 6th street. They will make a left turn onto Delaware Avenue. There will be a turnaround at the end of Delaware Ave and the runners will proceed back on Delaware and make a right turn onto 5th street.
  • Athletes 7-10 will be completing one loop of the course. They will proceed on 5th street and make a right turn onto Baltimore Ave to the finish line in front of the pool building.
  • Athletes 11-14 will be completing 2 loops of the course, for a total of 1.3 miles, and will make a right turn from 5th street between the pool area and the little league fields. They will again turn right onto 6th street and complete a 2nd loop of the course. On the 2nd loop, they will proceed on 5th Street to Baltimore Ave to the finish line in front of the pool.
  • There will be 1 aid station on the run course located on Delaware Avenue, approximately half way thru the loop.

    Transition:

  • Racers will enter the transition area from the pool. They will enter the rack area from the left and exit on the right, going the length of the racks. Racers will proceed to the bike in/out to leave transition.
  • Cyclist will enter the transition at the bike in/out and enter the rack area from the right. They will go the length of the racks and exit on the left proceeding to the run out area.
