- Location: Round Rock Premium Outlets
- Course Info: Youth Duathlon Event takes place at The Round Rock Premium Outlets and will be closed to public traffic.
- The run will take place on the gravel running trail around the lake/pond and other 1/2 mile (for the 1 mile course) adds the street area of the mall as seen on the couse map.
- The bike course is a 2 mile out and back which follows a back road into the neighborhood. To provide a great spectator view, the bike course is repeated for those doing longer distances.
- Then repeat the same run course & distance as you started with to complete the duathlon all leading to a great finish line.
- More: A Youth Duathlon Event with a Parent 1 mile run. Come on out and be a part of the Chili Du or Chili Run, Make it a team/family effort and have some fun reaching goals along the way. Tri Texas 2 step promotes families being active and healthy!

Pain in the Pines Adventure Race
- Adventure Race / 30-40 miles
- Location: Blackjack Campgrounds @ Tyler State Park
- Course Info: This event is always a big hit with new and veteran racers alike! Solo, 2, 3 and 4 member teams are welcome to come test their skill and endurance in this non-stop adventure race. This is our 5th year for the Pain in the Pines and while we have shortened the course a bit, the navigation will still be challenging.
- The race will include navigation with a map and compass, but don't worry if you don't know how. We'll be glad to help! The navigation in this race will be slightly more difficult than in our Tyler Adventure Sprint race.

- The Swim: A 1.2 mile open water lake swim. Wave starts (approximately 100 per wave), rectangular course counter clockwise, entry at beach area and exit on cement boat dock area, within 20 yards of the transition area. Swim cutoff time is 75 minutes.
- The Bike 56 miles, modified out and back, out of town farm to market roads, limited traffic, flat with 8 challenging hills, ranging from 8-13% grade and a quarter of a mile to 1.2 miles in length. These are good asphalt roads with some shoulders. ANSI approved helmets are required; No drafting allowed.
- The Run: 13.1 miles, asphalt, flat with 3 challenging hills, ranging from 10-14% (not the same hills as found on the bike course) grade. The hills are approximately 300 yards to 880 yards in length. Partially shaded, tough, scenic course. No non-participant pacing allowed. Course cut-off time is 8 hours.

- Weather: Semi-Arid (You don't sweat in the shade!) Average High 90.8 degrees; Average Low 64.3 degrees; Average Humidity 20-35%; Average Wind South 10-13 m.p.h. Note: Due to the extreme temperatures experienced in the 1994 race, (a history making 113 degrees F.), Buffalo Springs Lake Triathlon race management has established a policy that we may alter the race based on extreme weather conditions. You will be advised the day before if changes are required.
- Qualifying: There will be a total of 34 IQ slots awarded. There will be 30 Age group slots and 4 handcycle slots.
