  • From the South: US 131 to Wayland exit. East 9 miles to Briggs Road. Right on Briggs one mile to camp.
  • From the East: West 96 to Exit 52 (Lowell). Turn left - go back over freeway about 5 miles to 84th Street. Right to Cherry Valley Road; M-37 or Broadmoor, turn left. Cherry Valley Road forks right south of Caledonia. Take to 90 degree bend, then follow to Briggs Road. Left on Briggs for one mile. Camp will be on the right-hand side.

  • The Tri first leg is the swim course - a ½ mile counterclockwise rectangle starting in shallow water.
  • The Du 1st leg is on paved and compacted gravel for 2.4 miles and ending at the timing mat at the swim exit.
  • The bike course is one 13 mile loop on slightly rolling and little traveled rural roads north of the lake.
  • The 4 mile run course is flat, out paved roads and winding back among the lake homes.
    More: This our 23rd year. Great course for newbies. USAT Sanctioned and marshalled. Lots of volunteers. Terrific long-sleeved windshirt. All proceeds benefit local non-profit groups.

    5k / 10K: Run 3.1 or 6.2 miles
    Start Time: 1:30 pm EST
    Location: Bayshore Park
    Course Info: 1/4m swim; 18 mile bike; 5k run Contestants will begin with a 1/4 mile swim in Grand Marais Bay. For those that are unfamiliar, the bay is open to Lake Superior and the warmest it gets is Labor Day Weekend. The swim will definitely wake you up for the start of the race!
  • Next is a 13.6 mile bike race through the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, west of town on a newly paved asphalt road passing by waterfalls and Grand Sable Lake in the shadow of the Grand Sable Dunes; remember, this is a race so don't let the scenery slow you down!
  • The final leg of the race, a 5K run going east of Grand Marais, begins and ends at Bayshore Park in downtown Grand Marais. This route takes runners along Grand Marais Bay, through magnificent stands of timber on a secluded country road, and back to town along the same route. Good thing we didn't pick other roads as the entire town is surrounded by a steep ridge...hmm, should we make it a little tougher? Nah... it's going to be hard enough for the contestants to keep their minds on the race in this beautiful setting!

    The historic village of Grand Marais, Michigan is located on the south shore of Lake Superior at the eastern gateway to Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore.
