Saturday March 31, 2007 :: Lexington, Kentucky: YMCA Splash and Dash Aquathon

Swim 500 yards, Run 3.1 miles

Location: North Lexington Family YMCA

Course Info: A swim and run event

500-yard pool swim in which you can use any swim stroke to complete.

The run will immediately follow the swim and consist of a 5k (3.1 mile) run course. You may run or walk the 5k.

More: Participate in the individual competition or team/family competition and enjoy the fun atmosphere (ages 8 & up).

An awards ceremony will be held after the event.

All participants will receive a YMCA T-shirt.

All registration fees from the 2007 Splash and Dash swim and run event will be contributed to the YMCA Campaign for Kids fund.

Swim is in park's recreational lake.

Run is mostly hiking trails through old hardwood forest.

Bike is on single- and double track on trails established over the past 19 years.

Oldest annual off-road triathlon.

Directions To Race: From I-71 take Exit 44 and turn right on 227 N. The park's entrance is about 1.5 miles on your left. Go across the lake dam, up the hill, past the Park's lodge and Conference Center. Bike Butler is at the very top on the right side (opposite the golf course).

Course Info: Sprint Triathlon - 400 meter swim, 23.6K bike, 5K run

A 400 meter pool swim in the Russell Sims Aquatic Center’s 50 meter pool. No wetsuits allowed. Swimmers will be started every 5 seconds. Indicate estimated swim time on application.

The 23.6k (14.6 mile) loop bike course takes you on rolling roads in Bowling Green & Warren county, Kentukcy. All traffic signals must be followed. No drafting allowed. ALL CYCLISTS MUST HAVE HELMETS.

The 5k run course takes you through the relatively flat neighborhood next to Russell Sims Aquatic Center and around the Preston S. Miller Park. Aid stations will be placed approximately every mile.

Course Info: The MSU Eagle Triathlon will consist of the following components:

1. 500 yard Swim - along the beach area.

2. 13 mile Bike Race - an out & back course on HWY 801.

3. 3 Mile Run – an out and back course run on paved & possibly gravel service road.

The kids’ triathlon will all be inside the Twin Knobs campground.

Directions To Race: Take Exit 133 (Farmers/Sharky) off I-64.

If traveling from the east, turn left on the interstate ramp.

If traveling from the west, turn right off the interstate ramp.

Heading south, you will come to a 4 way stop at the intersection of US 60/ KY801.

Staying on 801 South (straight) you will proceed approximately 6 miles, on HWY 801, to Twin Knobs Recreation Area.

The entrance to the recreation area is on the right.

You will not be required to pay an entrance fee if you are participating in the race.
