Trans-Sierra Crossing - An El Dorado Adventure!

- Course Info: This is a point-to-point adventure, starting at Chambers Landing in Lake Tahoe and ending in Coloma.
- Tahoma to Coloma: Starting from Chambers Landing in Tahoma on the shores of crystal-blue Lake Tahoe (elev. 6230'), the TRANS-SIERRA CROSSING kicks off with 18 miles of trekking and trail running along the Rubicon Jeep Trail and the South Loon Lake Trail.
- The Rubicon is the now-famous 4WD route that began as a Native American trading route and later became a corridor popularly used by emigrants during the Gold Rush boom. In mid-June, there's a good chance we'll see some snow along the route, though not enough to require snowshoes; your trusty pair of trail runners should do the trick.
- You'll be surrounded by the beauty of Desolation Valley and Granite Chief Wilderness Areas as you make your way to Loon Lake (elev. 6500'), where you'll refuel before heading out on your second and final leg of the day - a 65-mile bike ride down the western slope of the Sierra to the historic gold-mining town of Coloma (elev. 750").
- Team Relays: All relays will consist of one runner and one cyclist; the running and biking portions of the race may NOT be divided and shared among multiple team mates.

The race is in a rolling hill setting within the sierra foothills. The bike and run is moderately hilly. Average water temperature is between 75-80 degrees and the average high air temperature is 87 with a low of 58 degrees - (Auburn is in north central Cailfornia, northeast of Sacramento)

- The race is a continuous and circuit-style course that follows the following sequence around the Navy Base where the SEAL’s train.

- Bike: 54 miles (four 13.5 mile laps on Highway 75)

Designed by Navy SEALS, the SUPERFROG is the first and longest running half- ironman distance triathlon. Presented by MWR/ Naval Special Warfare and sponsored by AMTI, the SuperFrog is no easy Sunday ride. A true ocean swim, the surf is unpredictable and water unusually cold. The bike is flat but can be windy and hot. The soft sand/ pavement run is a true test not repeated in any other triathlon of this distance as the hot afternoon temps make one dig deep to see what you are made of. All twenty-seven SUPERFROGs have been carefully monitored and supported by UDT-SEAL Association members, volunteers, and men of the Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training (BUD/S) department from the Naval Special Warfare Center making this a classy but old school event. If you're looking for something that stands out and tests your will, this is your race!
