Location: McDowell Mountain Park

Course Info: This beautiful course takes place in the tranquil McDowell Mountain Park outside Metro Phoenix (4 miles north of Fountain Hills). Both runs wind through the Saguaro and Ocotillo Cactuses of the Sonoran Desert on well groomed trails - there is one hill climb at the end of the second run which is more technical. The scenic road ride offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains off in the distance while rolling over mostly hilly terrain.

Directions To Race: From Fountain Hills (east side of Phoenix Metro) go north on Fountain Hills Blvd/McDowell Mountain Road 4 miles to the park entrance. The race takes place 6 miles into the park near the North Trail Loop on Asher View Dr.

Course Info: USA Triathlon sanctioned sprint event. The 11th Annual Tri in the Pines is a great starter race or a "high altitude" (6500ft) challenge for seasoned racers.

It starts in waves of 12 swimmers for an 825-yd swim at the Show Low Family Aquatic Center

transitions to a 12.3-mile bike on city streets

and finishes with a 3.5-mile run in Show Low City Park.

More: This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned race, therefore all competitors must be annual members or must purchase a ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP.

Awards are overall and three deep in each age group (increments of 5 yrs, i.e., 30-34, 35-39), and gender. Registration deadline is Aug. 18. Entries received after the deadline will not be seeded. Parents must sign a waiver for participants under 18. T-shirts guaranteed only for entries received prior to entry deadline.

POSTPONED - Saturday, November 18, 2006 : Phoenix, Arizona: Leap of Faith Adventure Race

Approximately 20 miles of suburban biking and 5-6 miles of running

Location: Circle of Peace Church

Course Info: The “Leap of Faith: Circle of Peace Challenge” is a race unlike any other. The objective is for two-person teams to find 15 or so checkpoints scattered around the Northwest Pheonix metro area in as short a time as possible and proceed to the secret finish location. Teams will also perform 3 mystery challenges (physical and mental challenges designed to test their ingenuity, creativity, coordination).

UPDATE: The Leap of Faith Adventure Race, scheduled for November 18th, has been postponed. We're already working on a date in February to try again and hope to improve our marketing efforts. We will re-post the race when a date is chosen.

Course Info: Twelve team orientated tasks must be completed before crossing the finish line. Think outside the box as you race, mountain bike, kayak, rock climb, map read, reason, and work together. This adventure race is considered a sprint event with top teams finishing within 90 – 120 minutes. Maps and course descriptions will be provided shortly before the race begins. This is a community based family adventure race. It will provide a challenge to any athlete that participates while allowing participants of varying fitness level to compete.
