Saturday, April 02, 2005 ::: Corvallis, Oregon: Beaver Freezer Sprint Triathlon: Swim 500 yards, Bike 11.4 miles, Run 3.1 miles; Location: Langton Pool, Oregon State University; Course Info: The Beaver Freezer Triathlon is a community event that attracts about 200 participants from throughout the Willamette Valley, and even from out of state. It has been the Triathlon Club's annual fundraising event for years. Participants swim 500 yards, bike 11.4 miles, and then run 3.1 miles. Experience varies from first-time triathletes to veterans; age groups range from 14-and-under to 70-plus; and there are road bike, mountain bike, and relay categories; Directions To Race: Oregon State University campus at Langton pool. From I-5, take Hwy. 34 west 11 miles to Corvallis. Historically water temperature has been in the mid to high 60’s (wetsuits recommended). The bike course is a spectacular undulating route featuring birch shaded creeks, historical covered bridges and pastoral countryside. It incorporates flats, gentle slopes and two short steep ascents. Location: Philomath Middle School, 2021 Chapel Dr, Philomath

Course Info: The 5k run course is relatively flat covering country roads and streets on the south edge of Philomath. Both bike courses feature a good climb half way through, followed by an exciting descent. The road course follows smooth country roads, and the mountain bike course covers both paved and gravel roads, as well as abandoned dirt roads and trails. The shorter mountain course climbs 120 feet higher than the road course.

Directions To Race: From I-5, follow Hwy 34 west through Corvallis to Philomath. Turn south (left) at the 19th street stoplight. Turn east (left) onto the school drive and go past the elementary school. The Philomath Middle school will be in front of you to your right. The transition area is on the south east side of the Middle School.
