Course Info: Nestled against the Green Mountain’s, just below Rattlesnake Point, is Branbury State Park . The lake region is a most spectacular and pristine place to swim, bike and run. Novice and advanced triathletes alike marvel the beauty of our courses and enjoy the mountains, lakes and streams of Central Vermont. The park is an excellent place to relax with your family before and after the event. To learn more about Branbury State Park please visit http://vtparks.anr.state.vt.us/htm/branbury.cfm .
The Swim: The 1.2-mile swim is held in crystal clear 80 degree Lake Dunmore. The swim will be a two loop course which is GPS measured and lined with buoys. There will be wave starts of no more than 100 participants per wave. The swim is extremely safe as you are rarely in over 6 feet of water at any given point. There will be lifeguards in kayaks and boats at various locations monitoring the course at all times.
The Bike: The 56-mile bike is a beautiful four-loop course, which we like to describe as “rolling”. The route is extremely spectator friendly, open to traffic and will be monitored closely by course marshals. The elevation of the course ranges from 300 ft to 650 ft. as illustrated by our elevation profile. The course has lots of new pavement and will be staffed with aid stations giving water bottles to all participants as requested. A bike mechanic will be roaming the course to provide aid as needed. Absolutely no drafting.
The Run: The 13.1-mile run is a GPS measured (10 ½-mile loop, plus a short 2 ½-mile out and back) course that winds around the lake. The short out and back portion of the run should provide for excellent spectator support. Aid stations will be found at every mile and will be loaded with water, sports drinks, energy bars, gels, fruit, and more. Course marshals will be roaming the route and will provide assistance as needed.
Amenities: Race Amenities Include: Full pre-race carbo load meal and post race meal catering by Baba’s Catering, an activities director for the kids, live music, medical support, customized t-shirt, free sports drinks in transition area and at every aid station, bagels, Clif Bars, various fruit, customized silicone swim cap, customized water bottle, custom awards to top 5 overall and top 3 in each age group, fully supported aid stations, various sponsor samples in goodie bags, raffle giveaways, safe and well staffed course. Available amenities include digital action photos, massage, extra custom Vermont Sun t-shirts, Louis Garneau triathlon race clothing, and more!
(Branbury is located on the eastern shore of Lake Dunmore at the base of Mt. Moosalamoo.)
