Course Info:
  • 1.2 mile swim: The swim will be an in-water wave start at the Shellmound beach. Swimmers will exit via the boat ramp. The water should be calm with little to no current. Wetsuits will most likely be allowed.
  • 56 mile bike: The bike course consists of one loop of flat to gently rolling terrain, through the beautiful Sequatchie Valley. Cyclists will head out on Hwy 28 and coming back to transition on Hwy 283 and Hwy.
  • 13.1 mile run: The run is a flat out and back. Athletes will run out TVA Access Road, turn south on Hwy 41, cross the Hwy 41 bridge (only hill), and proceed to the half way turn around. Overall

  • 1: Take I-24 W toward NASHVILLE.
  • 2: Take the TN-27 exit, exit number 158- toward NICKAJACK DAM/POWELLS CROSSROADS.
  • 3: Turn LEFT onto TN-27/ACCESS RD/BAPTIST HILL RD.
  • 4: Continue to follow ACCESS RD.
  • 5: ACCESS RD becomes T V A RD.
  • 6: Turn LEFT onto SHELLMOUND RD.
  • 7: End at 2735 TVA RD JASPER TN
  • Total driving distance: approx. 24 miles
    More: Join us for the fast and scenic Half-Iron Triathlon on Saturday; or the fun, beginner friendly Mountain Bike Triathlon on Sunday. Both races take place at the beautiful Shellmound Campground near Nickajack Dam, only 20 miles West of Chattanooga.   • 500 yard swim: The swim will be an in-water wave start at the Shellmound beach. Swimmers will exit via the boat ramp. The water should be calm with little to no current. Wetsuits will most likely be allowed.
  • 8 mile mountain bike: The course will consist of a four mile loop course. Competitors will complete two laps of this relatively flat, beginner friendly course. Approximately 60% of the course is grass or dirt trail, 40% is pavement.
  • 2 mile run: The run will be on trails. Prepare for one steep, 200 yard hill at the begining of the course.

  • 1: Take I-24 W toward Nashville
  • 2: 2: Take the TN-27 exit, exit number 158
  • 3: At the stop sign, turn left (onto TVA Access Road)
  • 4: Follow for 2 miles, you will then see signs for Shellmound Campground Parking
  • Total driving distance: approx. 24 miles

    Total bike = 15 miles, Total run = 6 miles (broken up), Total Canoe = est. 1 mile, 4 to 6 Obstacles

    Location: Coolidge Park
    Price: Before June 2: $45 Ind., $30 Teams (each member), minus $10 if student: 6/3-11: $60 Ind, $40 Team (each member) less $10 for any student
    Course Info: Bike will be through open downtown Chattanooga course with all traffic laws in effect, steep hills are on both run and bike courses, bikes will be required to cross 2 sets of railroad tracks, canoe trip is first up stream on the TN river and then back down, obstacle course will not be released until the day of race.

  • From South: I-75 N to I-24 W to US27-N, Take Manufacturers Road Exit, right onto Manufacturers Road, Right onto Cherokee (where road ends), stay straight onto Frazier Ave.
  • From North of Chattanooga: I 75S to I 24W to to US27-N, Take Manufacturers Road Exit, right onto Manufacturers Road, Right onto Cherokee (where road ends), stay straight onto Frazier Ave.
  • From West (from I-59N): I59N to I-24E to US 27-N (exit 178), take Manufacturers Road exit, right onto Manufacturers Road, Right onto Cherokee (where road ends), stay straight onto Frazier Ave.
  • Traveling South on US-27: Take Manufacturers Road, Left off exit, Right onto Cherokee (where road ends), stay straight onto Frazier Ave.

    Course Info: Course runs in the Cherokee National Forest in the vicinity of Holston Mountain and South Holston Lake, 40 minutes from Bristol TN/VA. Contestants can enter as solo participants or as 3 person teams. Awards in solo, team relay and team. Race includes 3 miles of lake paddling, 18 miles of mountain biking on forest service roads and 7 miles of running on trails and roads.
    Directions To Race: From Bristol, take Hwy. 421 east towards South Holston Lake. Go past the lake and turn right on Camp Tom Howard Road (FR 87). Follow this road to entrance of Little Oak Campground. Proceed to boat ramp parking lot where the race begins.
    More: This race is a benefit for River's Way Outdoor Adventure Center, a non- profit that "provides opportunities for youth of all abilities to grow through outdoor adventure programming."

    Canoe 3 miles, Mountain Bike 7 miles, Trail Run 2.5 miles
    Start Time: Depart 9:00 am., First Wave 10:00 am.
    Location: Chickasaw Trace Park, Columbia TN
    Course Info: The bike and run are on the highly acclaimed MTB course maintained by the Columbia Cycling Club. The bike course is one loop minus one difficult climb. The run is on a fairly flat and easy portion of the trails. The canoe portion puts in at the Maury County Jail on the Duck River. And the river is complete flat.
    More: Compete as a 2-person Team (combined times) or 2-person Relay (canoe together, one bikes and then the other runs). Canoes and lunch are provided.
    Directions To Race: From Hwy 31 in Columbia, take Hwy 7 north 4.5-miles. Park is on left.

    Course Info: A member of the Adventure Racing World Series and a USARA National Championship Qualifier. One of America’s original Adventure Races is back with an expedition-style competition for soloists, and teams of 2 and 4. Racers will pass through miles of scenic gorges and valleys containing a wide range of interesting geological and historic features, and some of the biggest arches in the east. Disciplines include trekking, mountain biking, orienteering, whitewater canoeing with Class III – IV rapids, and a dynamic ropes course. Each team or soloist must be assisted by a support crew.
