Saturday June 5, 2004 ::: Ridgeland, Mississippi: Heatwave Classic Triathlon
Swim ½ mile, Bike 24½ miles, Run 6.2 miles
Start Time: 7:00AM
Location: Ross Barnett Reservoir
Course Info: The race will consist of a Ѕ mile swim in the Ross Barnett Reservoir, a 24 Ѕ mile bike ride along the scenic and historic Natchez Trace Parkway,and ending with a 10K run along Ridgeland's heavily shaded Multi-Use Trail.
Directions To Race: To arrive at the Ridgeland Recreational Center (Race Headquarters)…..
  • •I-55 approaching from the North (Grenada, Memphis, St. Louis), take Exit 105B Ridgeland.
  • •I-55 approaching from the South (Brookhaven, McComb, New Orleans), take Exit 105 B Ridgeland.
  • •I-20 approaching from the East (Meridian, Tuscaloosa, Birmingham), take I-55 North toward Memphis and then exit at Exit 105B Ridgeland.
  • •I-20 approaching from the West (Vicksburg, Monroe, Dallas), take I-55 North toward Memphis and then exit at Exit 105B Ridgeland.
  • •Natchez Trace Parkway approaching from the North (Kosciusko, Tupelo, Nashville), take the Ridgeland Exit at Craft Center (little wooden house) . Stay on exit road and it will intersect Rice Road. Turn left on Rice Road and travel approximately 2.8 miles to Post Road.
    Use these directions when you reach the Ridgeland Exit::
  • •Exit and go East on Jackson Street. Turn right at the first red light (Hwy 51). You will be headed South on U.S. Highway 51. Turn left at the second red light (Rice Road). Travel approximately 2.9 miles to the intersection of Post Road and Rice Road. Turn right on Post Road and enter Old Trace Park. The Ridgeland Recreational Center is located at Old Trace Park.

    Start Location: Lake Tiak-O'Khata - Louisville, Mississippi
    Finish Location: Neshoba County Fairgrounds - Phildelphia, Mississippi
    Price: USAT members $45 before July 18, ($55 after) Non USAT $55 before July 18, ($65 after). Team $80 bfore July 18, ($95 after). Add $10 for each team member who is not a USAT member.
    Course Info: 1/2 mile swim in Lake Tiak-O'Khata with a 5 second staggered start. Bike 27 1/2 miles of rolling hills from Louisville Mississippi to Philadelphia Mississippi.7 mile run finishing at the historical Neshoba County Fairgrounds on a red clay race track. More: This race is the Mississippi state championship race. All USA Triathlon rules will apply. Rules will be enforced by USA Triathlon officials. This is the 25th anniversary for this event.
    More: This is the 25th anniversary for this event. It is a point to point race and is a sanctioned USAT event. All USAT rules will apply. Pre-race meeting will begin at 7:30 P.M. on July, 23. No registration on race day. Please note if you need race day packet pick up please note on application.

    Course Info: The swim is in the camp lake around bouys set in a triangular shape. The bike leg of the race is two circuits around a 7 mile course which has a few hills and minor obsticals. The bike portion of the race is the same trail that Scout use during summer camp. The run is a 5k trail run through beautiful flat woods.
    Directions To Race: Hazlehurst is located 40 miles South of Jackson on I-55. Once to Hazlehurst take exit 61 to Hwy 28 West. Travel 2.5 miles on Hwy 28 and turn right onto Old Port Gibson Rd. Camp Hood will be 9.3 miles down this road to the right. Once at Warren A. Hood Scout Reservation follow the road to the parking area about a mile down on the right. The start line is at the end of the black top road at the boat lauch area.
    More: The race begins at 8:30 but all participants need to be in the starting area by 8:00 a.m. There will be a host hotel in Hazlehurst or participants are welcome to rent primitive cabins ($5) while they are still available. The Primitive Cabins sleep 6 with electricity and a central bathroom and shower. There will also be a pre-race spagetti dinner held Friday, August 27, at the Dinning Hall at Camp Hood.

    Course Info: Both runs are insided the lake area, which is mostly flat with the exception of a .25 mile incline to the transition area and finish line. There are 3 water stops alon this course. The 30k bike is a closckwise loop around Lake Okatibbee. It is somewhat flat with rolling hills. There are no water stations along the bike course.
    Directions To Race: From I-20 / I-59 take exit 150 and follow sign to Hwy 19 North. Approximately 9 miles from I-20 / I-59 will be Lake Okatibbee. (Look for race banner)

    Course Info: The run is out and back, the bike is out and back, and the last run is out and back. The run and bike are in rolling hills with very little traffic. Roads are smooth.
    Directions To Race: Noxapter is on Highway 15 between Louisville ans Philadelphia. Approximately 60 miles northwest of Meridian and 75 miles North of Jackson - Race starts and finishes on Main Street
