This is a great event for first-timers, as well as the veteran multi-sport athlete. - (Olathe is in eastern Kansas, 50 miles east of Topeka Kansas, and 22 miles southwest of Kansas City Missouri)

Location: Start and finish at the Commercial Bank parking lot at the corner of Central and Main Streets on the west side of downtown Parsons.

Register: Pre-registering before race day is recommended. Day of race registration will be begin at 6:45 am.
Price: 5K Run- $12; Duathlon- $18 (must be received before May 26, 2004). Race Day Entries Fee: 5K-$15; Duathlon-$22.
Course Info: This course is not Certified, but is wheel measured. The Duathlon will consist of a 5K run, 20 mile bike and finish with a 5K run. The bike portion this year will proceed west through Parsons and along the old Hwy 400, parallel to the new super highway 400 by-pass. The entire course is pavement. Both the 5K and Duathlon will start together promptly at 7:30 am

(Parsons is located in SE Kansas on Hwy 400. Hwy 400 is Main Street in the city limits.)

Course Info: The venue at Shawnee Mission Park, just off of I435 and 87th Street, is a challenging closed course referred to by Wes Hobson as "one of his most favorite courses". The event features an out and back lake swim, a hilly bike course and a beautiful run.

Sunday August 1, 2004 ::: Kansas City, Kansas: Hotter Than Hell - half iron distance triathlon
Swim 1.2 miles, Bike 56 miles, Run 13.1 miles
Start Time: 7:00AM
Location: Wyandotte County Lake
Course Info: The race starts at beautiful Wyandotte County Lake then bikers ride around Wyandotte County and head to the Kansas Speedway where they finish with a lap on the track. Transition areas are in pit row. The run heads back out onto the roads around the speedway, goes around the track complex and finishes under the checkered flag around turn 2. The course is fast and flat and is one of the most unique venues in the country.

Triathlon ::: Swim 0.6 miles, Bike 14 miles, Run 4 miles
Duathlon :: Run 1.5 miles, Bike 12 miles, Run 4 miles
Start Time: 7:00AM
Location: Wyandotte County Lake
Triathlon Course Info: The first annual Speedway Sprint Triathlon begins with a swim at Wyandotte Lake. Bikers exit the Lake complex, go straight to the Kansas Speedway and make several laps around the flat, fast new roads of the Speedway. Cyclists end with half a lap on the track and and enter the transition area is in Pit Row. The run goes back out of the Speedway complex, makes one lap around on the roads around the track, heads back into the infield and onto the track where runners sprint to the finish under the checkered flag in Pit Row. The bike is extremely fast and flat. It should be one of the nicest bike courses in the country as the roads around the Speedway are new, flat and wide. Of course, the lap around the Track itself will be awesome. The run is also very flat with no real hills of any kinds. Wet suits will not be allowed for those who wish to be eligible for awards.
