Saturday, June 26, 2004 ::: Martinsville, Indiana:Jo Bires Sprint Triathlon: Swim 500 meters, Bike 11 miles, Run 2.5 miles; Start Time: 9am; Location: Foxcliff Estates; Course Info: The course is contained within a beautiful subdivision just north of Martinsville Indiana. The swim takes place in a small, clean, lake. The bike course has a couple of steep hills (both up and down) and makes three loops through Foxcliff South. The run has just one major hill to make it a challenge.; Jo Bires: This is a race that is run in the name of our friend and neighbor, Jo Bires, who lost her battle with cancer a few years ago. Since then, the neighborhood has held this event to raise funds for The American Cancer Society. All race personnel are volunteers. All proceeds go directly to The American Cancer Society. Sponsorships help fund the T-shirts and lunch that is given to each participant and volunteer as well as helps to increase our donation to the Cancer Society. Sponsorships are $100. Sunday, June 27, 2004 : Salem, Indiana: FEARS Race 3: 3-6 Trail Runing/Trekking, 9-17 MTB, 2-5 Paddling; Start Time: 09:00; Location: Delaney Park; Phone: (765) 532-8728; email: teb@DynamikAdventures.com; Register On Line At: DynamikAdventures.com; Course Info: The FEARS series is a regional series in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois with a championship final. Each race has an 8 hour course cut-off time with leaders expected to finish in 4-6 hours depending on the individual course. These are multi discipline outdoor sprint adventure races challenging teams with trail running/trekking, mountain biking, paddling, and orienteering. Between discipline legs participants must overcome team oriented special events (example: get all team bikes through a vertical slot in a board that is 5” x 26”). Each race is totally different in sequence, terrain, and special events. Turn right and continue for 1/2 mile to a tee in the road (Delaney Creek Rd).
Turn left (north) for 1/4 mile, then turn right into the park entrance.
