Adventure Race Camp
Course Info: A great way for racers to get the paddling and climbing certifications needed for Odyssey and other USARA events. Two intensive days of whitewater paddling and fixed ropes skills lead by Travis Overstreet from Outdoor Trails. Additional instruction on gear, strategy, and wilderness first aid will be presented. Participants will stay overnight at the Promise Land Camp, paddle in the James River and climb at selected Blue Ridge Mountain sites. The popular Odyssey One-Day Adventure Race follows on April 12

Course Info: All New Course! The Odyssey is great for athletes looking for a very demanding 1-day race that encompasses all of the major disciplines found in the longer expedition-style competitions. The course provides lots of elevation gain and loss (mostly gain) and spectacular scenery among the Blue Ridge Mountains. Many teams will want to use The Odyssey as a tune-up race for the BEAST of the EAST, Endorphin FIX and the Mega Dose as it is the same team format – 2 or 4-person teams and soloists. This is a supported race.

Course Info Triathlon: The Off-Road Triathlon is an XTERRA Championship Points Race Respected as a very unconventional and physically demanding triathlon, this race incorporates elements of adventure racing in the disciplines. The swim takes place in beautiful Sherando Lake, and is followed by a run/hike. Racers climb to the top of Torry Ridge Trail, proceed along the ridge-line then run back down the mountain. The PRO bike section is a double loop mainly on single track, while the Sport class is one loop. Competitors will race up the rocky mountain at the beginning of each loop - a Herculean effort that often makes or breaks competitors. . NEW THIS SEASON…the PRO EXTREME COURSE! Competitors will add a lap in the run and bike section …. .9-mile swim/16-mile run/33-mile mountain bike! Only the toughest need apply!
Course Info Duathlon: Racers will run 8 miles on trails along the lake and streams that are nestled in Sherando’s wooded hills. Then bike a 11-mile loop that encompasses climbing, log-jumping, single-track riding and a challenging descent

Course Info: A USARA National Championship Qualifier. Held in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, this competition will truly challenge even the most experienced athletes with it’s extraordinary climbs and fast downhills. The atmospheric midnight start under the Natural gets racers warmed up for the ensuing whitewater swimming, biking, and trekking to the finish line. Get ready for an exciting fixed ropes course designed by the Dirty Dozen. The course, with its extreme elevation gains and losses, is designed with only the most serious of adventure racers in mind. Teams of 2 and 4 persons, as well as soloists will compete in this supported race. A great tune-up race for the BEAST!

(The course for both events is spectacular! The lake swim will consist of one flat-water 1.2-mile swim lap for the Half and two laps or the full IRON Tri. The bike is almost entirely on gravel fireroads, with approximately 2-miles per lap of single/double track. Each lap is on rolling hills through densely wooded forests. Athletes in the Half IRON will bike complete a 56-mile course. The full IRON athlete's will complete this course twice for a total of 112 miles on the bike. The majority of the trail run is on non-technical single-track with stunning vistas and beautiful waterfalls and creeks. The Half run is one 13.1 miles and the IRON Tri is two of these loops.)
