Four Winds Outdoor Industry Challenge™
Corporate Sponsored Teams to Square Off Against Squads From Across U.S.
WHO: Extreme athletes — women and men ranging in ages from their 20’s to 50’s — from across the country and overseas.
WHAT: Outdoor Industry Representatives come together in friendly competition to “duke it out” athletically in the Four Winds Outdoor Industry Challenge™ . Four and two-member, mixed and same-gender teams with skills in a variety of sports compete in a two-and-an-half day adventure race modeled as a shortened version of the long-running expedition level competition, the Four Winds USA Supreme Adventure Race. They will be mountain biking, rappelling and ropes work, trekking, trail-running, flat-water paddling, swimming, in-line skating or kick-scootering, horseback-riding, power-parachuting and navigating continuously across a secret course of approximately 150 miles of extreme varied high desert and mountain terrain.
WHEN: August 12-14, 2004, plus pre-race activities August 11.
WHERE: In and around Park City, Utah and the Uinta National Forest, among the lush and dramatic landscapes of Utah’s naturally beautiful backdrop.
RACE HEADQUARTERS: David Holland Resort Properties, Park City Utah
PHOTO/INTERVIEW OPPS: • Athletes of all ages, from all walks of life meeting prior to the race and talking about the reasons for participating in such a grueling, non-stop event. This, against the backdrop of the racers going through briefings, gear and skills tests.
• Teams representing manufacturers, wholesaler, retailers, engaged in a friendly competition against each other to raise money for “Leave No Trace.”
