Desoto American Triple-T Results

Team Psycho and Gordo Byrn take top honors at 2004 Desoto American Triple-T

 

 

Participants from over twenty states from coast to coast gathered in southern Ohio for an exciting weekend of unique triathlon racing during the 2004 Desoto American Triple-T (DATT) event.  The event included over 10,000 feet of climbing on the bike and run courses.   At the completion of three days and four races, participants covered 3.2 miles of swimming, 113 miles of cycling, and 27.2 miles of running.  The weekend unfolded as:

 

Friday PM – Swim 250 meters, Bike 4 miles, Run 1 mile

Saturday AM – Swim 1500 meters, Bike 24.8 miles, Run 6.55 miles

Saturday PM – Draft legal Bike 24.8 miles, Swim 1500 meters, Run 6.55 miles

Sunday AM – Swim 1.2 miles, Bike 56 miles, Run 13.1 miles

 

Team Psycho (Matt Nuffort, Jeff Henderson, Jeff Hunt) from Massachusetts claimed first place in the highly contested team division.  Gordon Byrn, leading wire to wire, won the solo division.  

 

Team Psycho, DATT first timers, and Team Tri2GetBy (Bruce Gennari, Barry Knight, John Baker) battled back and forth throughout the entire weekend.  Team Tri2GetBy won the 2003 and 2002 DATT events and were looking for a three-peat.   Ultimately, Psycho claimed first place with Tri2GetBy in second place.  Team Enduro was the third place overall team.

 

The newly created solo division saw great individual efforts from over thirty-five hardcore endurance triathletes.  Gordo Bryn led the male solo division with an overall combined time of 9:59:05.   Jeffery Coudron made an amazing push during Sunday’s half ironman distance triathlon and grabbed second place overall.   Edward Walker finished in the third spot.

 

Andrea Myers of Wellston, Ohio was the overall female solo winner with a overall combined time of 11:44:57.  Separated by less than two minutes, Cheryl Chaney and Gae Orsini finished second and third, respectively.

1st – Team Psycho (Matt Nuffort, Jeff Henderson, Jeff Hunt) team time 15:12:15

2nd – Team Tri2GetBy (Bruce Gennari, Barry Knight, John Baker) 15:29:16

3rd – Team Enduro (Mary Carey, Bob & Ben Schloegel) 15:50:21

4th – Team Need2Speed (Doug Vander Weide, Loran Storts, JJ Bailey) 16:07:03

5th – Team Spin (Joe Bush, Jim Lamastra, Jeff Juergens) 16:37:13

 

Overall Solo Male Finish

1st – Gordo Bryn, overall time 9:59:05

2nd – Jeffrey Coudron 10:14:41

3rd – Edward Walker 10:20:21

4th – Scott Myers 10:39:33

5th – Matt Combs 11:00:13

 

Overall Female Solo Finish

1st – Andrea Myers 11:44:57

2nd – Cheryl Chaney 12:05:17

3rd – Gae Orsini 12:06:58
