CHISAGO TRIATHLON ADDS PRIZE MONEY PURSE TO A GROWING FIELD

    Over 1,500 have signed up

Over 1,500 have now signed up for the Chisago Lakes Area Triathlon for this weekend at Paradise Park. There are over 400 kids who will compete in the kids’ tri on Saturday, July 28 at 9 am.  In the adult triathlon held on Sunday, July 29 at 7 am, over 1100 have signed up.  This year the Half Ironman will add a prize money purse of over $3000 for the 5 top competitors. The Half Iron bike event has a few challenging hills half way and the difficulty is similar to the Madison Ironman. Four bikes from REI will also be given away.

“We see such an increase due to the uniqueness of our “Swedish theme”  and also it was well organized. Chisago is not really that far from the Twin Cities,” announced Brenda Palmquist, Chisago Lakes Area Chamber President.

The sprint distance includes a ¼-mile swim, 20-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run, while the Half Iron participants will endure a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run. Fairview Lakes Health Services will have an expo the day before at the Paradise Park from 11-5 pm. The public is welcome to attend.

Registration for the 2007 Chisago Lakes Area Triathlon and Kids’ Triathlon is open.  Fees are $55 for the Sprint, $105 for the Half Ironman, $90 for the Sprint Relay, $175 for the Half Ironman Relay, and $12 for kids.
