Greater Cleveland Triathlon Adds Aquabike Event for 2005

(Cleveland, Ohio) - The Greater Cleveland Triathlon is fast becoming one of the most unique and diverse multisport events in the country. Set for the weekend of August 13 & 14, 2005 at Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor, Ohio. The race will include a youth triathlon on Saturday for kids from the ages of 7 to 14 years old and then on Sunday the event will feature a sprint distance triathlon (Swim-.75K/Bike-20K/Run-5K) a Half Iron Distance (Swim - 1.1 Mile/Bike 56 - Mile/Run - 13.1 Mile) individual and three person team relay triathlon and a newly added Aquabike event (Swim – 1.1 Mile/Bike -56 Mile) There will also be a sports and fitness expo on both days.

     The Greater Cleveland Triathlon is one of nine events nationwide, and the first in Ohio, that will feature an inaugural Aquabike event. The Aquabike format will be a pilot program for USA Triathlon for 2005 race season.

     To support the training for these events, Bike Authority (Broadview Heights, Ohio) in conjunction with the Cleveland Triathlon Club will host a series of three training sessions on Saturday, May 28, June 25, and July 23 at 9:15 in Lot # 17 at Headlands Beach State Park.
